Hit Me Baby One Last Time

When it comes to drugs, when is the end? Is it a life long battle that culminates in death? For me I personally know that the time has come to an end. While trying not to be too specific a while a go I took something that was once beautiful  and it ended up screwing me over. I ended up getting sick a couple days after taking it, though thankfully it only ended up being the flu. There were times where I would feel as if I was still on it randomly during the day, but again my doctor only confirmed to me that it's simply a symptom of the flu. The saying "scared straight" really applies to this situation. I was so scared that I had done something I would regret later on. Its always that push that ends up hurting people. Just one more time, just a little more, that little bit that extra is the thing that ruins everything.

It got me thinking, if we -technically- poison our bodies by ingesting such vices as drugs and alcohol how can we trust our bodies, especially in times of need? For this reason I understand why people think that they can escape in substances but it just ends up wreaking more havoc. It can hurt you both physically and mentally. Our bodies send us signals in times of distress and in times of excitement, and I feel that with drugs especially these are muffled or become non-existent. For me at least to deal with emotions and road blocks we have to be clear not blurred by substances. I'm not trying to talk down or shun those who chose to drink alcohol, everything is okay in moderation but for me drugs are done with. It has been a development period for me or "phase" as many like to say.

What are your thoughts?

When it comes to alcohol I have to say that based on my religion I would have to say that it is ok to drink but just don't get to the point that you can't control yourself is what I gathered.

As for drugs, there is one that I'm kind of into but this was given to me by my roommate and I trust his judgement on this however I'm not about to go it alone b/c I wouldn't know where to get it and I'm worried about the consequences

Also it depends on what we are putting in our body and what are the effects that it has on us.

Not saying that drugs are good but certain drugs used wont damage you as fast as others used

Societies have dealt with drugs for a very long time.

Doctors used to dose people up with morphine before operating on them because they did not have anaesthetics. People also did not realise, as you have, the potential dangers of regular doses of mind-altering substances.

Of course the stronger the effect the more dangerous it can be, as you said.

Drinking alcohol is condoned by most christian churches who call wine 'the blood of Christ' and apparently jesus drank wine with his food and chose it because it was as common to his experience as was eating bread. That may give you some idea why alcohol is socially pretty acceptable, is sanctioned by lots of societies around the world and is taxed to bring in money to help run everything.

Pretty much all the drugs you may have tried are illegal in most countries and are not taxed for that reason.

This is why Ethan has the view he has and why society and almost everyone you will speak to for advice on this subject will agree.

So it must be true.

Really? It doesn't follow, does it?

But personally, I've only smoked a tiny amount, years ago, recreationally (as they say) although I have enjoyed alcohol all my adult life and still do.

With due regard for the law in your part of the world, it is, at best, an informed personal decision coz alcohol wrecks lots of relationships and families too and if people try to drive cars, planes or operate machinery it can be the cause of people dying.

You pays your money and takes your choice.

'Now, what's your poison?' my uncle asked as he took be to the bar.

In general I feel like drugs cloud your mind, much like this conversation. So lets just leave it at that, shall we.
